Crossborder geo-collaboration in the Benelux

28th May 2012

EuroGeographics President Mrs. Ingrid Vanden Berghe had a presentation on cross border projects at the workshop "Crossborder geo-collaboration in the Benelux" organised by the Benelux Secretariat in Brussels on 24 May 2012.

The aim of the workshop was to strengthen the execution of the MOU signed in 2011within the Benelux on the cross border collaboration on digital geo-information between Belgium, The Netherlands and Luxemburg,

About 60 participants from The Netherlands, Luxemburg and Belgium were present, stakeholders on cross border geo-collaboration, data producers to specific cross border projects needing geodata, from different government levels etc.

EuroGeographics President was invited to share with the participants some lessons learnt within the EuroGeographic context. After introducing our organisation, she used 3 examples to show how cross border collaboration works in reality. Our pan-European products show how data harmonisation can be achieved by working together. State Boundaries of Europe is also a fine example of a solution needed for any cross border application where different geodatasets have to be put together. The lessons learnt in the ESDIN project were also illustrated. Find her presentation here.

The audience feedback to this presentation was very positive, and there was a great interest of specialists and users in the practical outcomes of our work.
