SUMMARY:Joint EuroGeographics and EuroSDR Virtual Workshop on Geodata Discoverability
DESCRIPTION:Data discoverability has been identified decades ago as an important stake both by the Spatial data Infrastructure community and by the Web of data community. As more and more data are produced and published online in our societies\, this stake is only growing. \nThis workshop aimed at sharing practical experiences\, findings and roadmaps related to the discoverability and accessibility of data with a geographical characteristic\, in particular but not limited to data covered by the INSPIRE directive. It was co-organised by EuroSDR Commission 3 and Eurogeographics KEN INSPIRE. \nIt welcomed presentations representative of the diversity of stakeholders who contribute to the field. \nThe meeting was organised as a virtual event. \nThe agenda of the workshop is available here. \n\n\n\nPresentation\nSpeakers\n\n\nCreation of pan-European geospatial datasets – Experiences in real-life\nHannes Reuter\, EuroStat\n\n\nThe experience of the French open data portal\nAntonin Garrone\, Etalab\n\n\nDiscoverability of open agriculture data\nMaja Schneider\, Technical University of Munich\n\n\nGeospatial Data on data.europa.eu\nAntje Kügeler & Jiri Pilar\, European Commission\n\n\nINSPIRE Geoportal – Towards the new EU data ecosystem\nJordi Escriu\, JRC\n\n\nGeoNetwork opensource – New developments and plans\nJeroen Ticheler\, GeoCAT\n\n\nGeospatial metadata on the (Semantic) Web. SUMMARY:Webinar Series - Data integration\, Paving the way for new markets - Challenges and recommendations
DESCRIPTION:This webinar is a joint EuroGeographics / UN-GGIM: Europe Working Group Data Integration event. \nPlease find below a description of the event and the agenda: \nData integration – Paving the way for new markets \nChallenges and recommendations\nDon’t you think that your spatial data products have a traditional purpose and serve for your identified markets? Learn how other nations enable interaction and open up new information markets. \n(page 14 ff in the DataIntegration document) \nDon’t you think that wherever you go\, you pass information? You can collect it by adding “geographic numbers” (coordinates) and share it with others. The method of spatial join and some examples are given in the document. \n(page 18 ff in the DataIntegration document ) \nDon’t you think that the combination of different data sources occurs permanently? Many of us need to establish these procedures from time to time. What has to be considered when establishing a sustainable data integration process?\n(page 22 ff in the DataIntegration document) \nIntroduction/Description \nJoin us as the UN-GGIM: Europe Working Group on Data Integration demonstrates the use of data integration methods\, enhancing collaboration across authorities. The webinar guides through the recently published document “Data Integration Methods – Analysis of future trends in geospatial data capture\, creation\, maintenance and management” and highlights recommendations for increased application of good practices. \nThe webinar is intended to focus on three aspects: (1) the importance of data integration\, (2) main tools\, methods and requirements as well as (3) recommendations to enable data integration processes. \nInteraction and knowledge exchange are important in this webinar and may guide further activities of the Working Group. This webinar is open to NMCAs and NSIs. \nAgenda \n\nWelcome and introduction to slido\, Carol Agius\, EuroGeographics/ UN-GGIM: Europe Secretariat\nIntention of the webinar – Why/What/How – Pier-Giorgio Zaccheddu\, BKG\, Germany\nIntroduction: Why is data integration meaningful? SUMMARY:Workshop on Sustainable Open Data Business Models for NMCAs
DESCRIPTION: \nThis joint Eurogeographics and EuroSDR event\, aimed to assess the impacts of open data policies on the business models of NMCAs and which adaptations have been made to cope with revenue losses due to open data supply. The workshop’s objective was also to identify trends as a repetition (in a barometer survey approach) of a research action led in 2017 by EuroSDR and TU Delft. SUMMARY:PolKEN & INSPIRE KEN joint webinar
DESCRIPTION:“INSPIRE beyond 2020”  \nTwo of our KENs\, the POLKEN which gathers and shares information relating to European and global policy\, and INSPIRE KEN which main role is to help our members to implement INSPIRE directive have discussed on a topic of shared interest – INSPIRE beyond 2020. \nYou may wish to know more information of the roles of these two KENs or how to join them. Please see the presentation on the Role of POLKEN by Lea Bodossian and Role of the INSPIRE KEN by Marcin Grudzień. \nThis was  an excellent opportunity to share information on the recent developments from both viewpoints. As you know\, INSPIRE directive is on its way for being reviewed and we want to provide a strong contribution for EuroGeographics\, a contribution based on the expert knowledge of our members. This forum was the best start for that. \nAgenda is available here and presentations from the event in the table below. \nRecord \n\n\n\nMarjana Zelic\, EuroGeographics\n\nEuropean strategy for data – state of play \n\n\n\nNathalie Delattre\, NGI Belgium\n\nNeed driven data prioritisation \n\n\n\nJordi Escriu\, JRC\nINSPIRE is evolving towards the Green Deal data space and update on INSPIRE central components\n\n\nNathalie Delattre\, NGI Belgium\n\nINSPIRE latest news and activities

SUMMARY:Geospatial Information for Digital Transformation
DESCRIPTION:During past 20 years\, the Norwegian Mapping Authority has been implementing capacity development projects in Eastern Europe\, West Balkans\, Central Asia\, and other regions. This capacity development has focused on the establishment of national spatial data infrastructures\, delivery of core geospatial datasets\, building-up technical and professional capacity\, contributing to economic growth and supporting the Sustainable Development Goals. \nEvery year since 2016\, regional conferences took place in one of the beneficiary countries. Due to the pandemic\, the event in Kyrgyzstan in 2020 was cancelled. \nThis year\, the regional conference will be held over three days in a hybrid form\, and it will be focused on the importance of geospatial information in the digital transformation. \n\n\n\nOn 27 October\, Léa Bodossian\, Secretary General and Executive Director\, EuroGeographics is delighted to be speaking on: Enabling Digital Government through Geospatial Data and Location Intelligence: What needs to be done with information management in accession countries?

SUMMARY:Webinar series on INSPIRE themes implementation in NMCAs: Cadastral Parcels
DESCRIPTION:In 2020 the final milestone in the INSPIRE implementation roadmap was been reached. All datasets for all INSPIRE themes should  be implemented now. A look at the INSPIRE Geoportal to a large extend confirms this. There are plenty of datasets available\, many of which are shared via view and download network services. Therefore\, it is a perfect moment to sum up the INSPIRE implementation process and also share some NMCAs experiences of how they have practically implemented the directive.  \nThe webinars will be divided by INSPIRE themes –each webinar will focus on one theme starting from Annex I themes in the following order: Addresses\, Administrative units\, Cadastral parcels\, Geographical names\, Transport networks and Hydrography. \nThis webinar focused on the implementation of the INSPIRE Cadastral Parcels. Find the presentations below: \n\n“GIS-Centras” “INSPIRE datasets in Lithuania: a story of implementation”\,  Juliana Karčiauskienė\, SE\n“Cadastral Parcels implementation experience in Slovakian NMCA”\, Kinga Dombiová\, GCCA Slovakia\n“Complexities of delivering INSPIRE data from semi structured datasets”\, Alan Howie\, Registers of Scotland\n\nWebinar recording (opens in YouTube)
