Copernicus In-Situ Component Strategy 2028 to 2034
| 01 Oct 2026
Did you spot our pan-European dataset EuroRegionalMap on the front page of the Copernicus In-Situ Component Strategy 2028 to 2034?
Together with our members, we’ve contributed to this important document which sets the course for securing the high-quality in-situ data Copernicus needs.
EuroGeographics has a long-standing partnership with the European Environment Agency (EEA), and we welcome the specific mention of geospatial data as essential for product quality and for reducing critical dependencies. We also support the strategy’s call for “stronger and more predictable long-term commitments, including stable funding arrangements.”
As the legally mandated custodians of authoritative data, our members provide a trusted, sovereign asset for a strong and secure Europe. Our Copernicus Services Framework agreement with the EEA – specifically the Copernicus In-Situ component – overcomes legal barriers to accessing this data for disaster response and recovery, security and land monitoring.
We remain committed to working with our partners at Copernicus to reduce duplication and build a more efficient, interoperable and sustainable in-situ data ecosystem.
