Our Partners

EuroGeographics collaborates with organisations beyond the national mapping, cadastral and land registry sector. This includes those which have common interests, complementary expertise and programmes of work which support our members’ activities and promotes them to a wider, yet relevant, audience.

European Environment Agency (EEA)

EuroGeographics has signed a cooperation agreement with the European Environment Agency (EEA) which makes more national authoritative geospatial information available to Copernicus users. Members already provide data to crisis response teams through the Copernicus Emergency Mapping Service.

The partnership agreement has five main objectives:

  • To improve Copernicus access to EuroGeographics data and services, produced using official geospatial data from its members.
  • To enhance the dialogue between Copernicus and EuroGeographics members.
  • To foster knowledge exchange between Copernicus and EuroGeographics members.
  • To promote awareness raising activities.
  • To support initiatives to provide pan-European harmonised data services.

EuroSDR

EuroSDR links national mapping, land registry and cadastral authorities with research institutes and universities in Europe. EuroGeographics and EuroSDR have a common interest in carrying out and applying relevant research and developments in the field of geographic information and spatial data infrastructures. We are working together to provide a framework for European spatial data research and development.

Our cooperation agreement furthers the development of the EuroSDR Research Plan and the activities of the EuroGeographics Knowledge Exchange Networks (KENs). As a result, members of both not-for-profit organisations benefit from greater opportunities for professional development. They are also able to take part in joint projects and hand over tasks more appropriate to the other organisation’s expertise.

Group on Earth Observations (GEO)

EuroGeographics is delighted to be recognised as a Participating Organisation in the Group on Earth Observations (GEO).

We act as the interface between GEO and the European National Mapping, Cadastral and Land Registry Authorities, particularly through our Knowledge Exchange Networks to facilitate learning and development of earth observation amongst our members. We also focus on how our communities can best collaborate to contribute to the UN SDGs, participate in GEO Plenary meetings and provide experts to the Work Programme.

Common Vision

EuroGeographics is a signatory of the Common Vision to enhance collaboration and cooperation between organisations related to cadastre and land administration. The other signatories are The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe Working Party on Land Administration (UNECE WPLA), The Permanent Committee on Cadastre in the European Union (PCC), European Land Information Service (EULIS), The European Land Registry Association (ELRA), and The Council of European Geodetic Surveyors (CLGE).

The objective is to enhance our core strengths by working closely together to minimise duplication of work and overlapping competencies. Our joint activities, which include the annual Common Vision conference, have made significant progress towards our three core aims:

  • To raise awareness among decision makers that cadastral and land registration information and services are fundamental for secure land tenure, reliable land value, efficient land use and sustainable land development.
  • To raise awareness that Land Registers, and within their scope, Cadastres, have a significant role in protecting and prioritising legal rights, providing reliable and authoritative information, and as state of the art services that meet the needs of private and public-sector users.
  • To facilitate communication with the European Institutions to promote our common vision.
