Geospatial platform development in Finland

From 2017 to 2019 the National Land Survey of Finland has been developing the Geospatial Platform. The project is now coming to an end and it is now the time to share the project’s insights with other European NMCAs.
What have we learned from the project? Some of the key points include how to manage the data quality when dealing with municipalities, and how to build ecosystems together with data produces and data users. Data security and GDPR issues also became more prominent during the project. From the technological viewpoint, the project has been developing different solutions for setting and managing persistent IDs, linked data, and the automation of quality evaluation.
The project started with a survey on geospatial platforms in the other European countries. Now it is time to discuss the possibilities of future cooperation, and to work together to identify and solve the common issues.
Efficient use of spatial data for a better society - let’s do it together!
