Open Maps for Europe will signpost and provide easy access to pan-European open data created using official map, geospatial and land information. Users will be able to access and download the data via an online interface currently in development.
To date, 75% of EuroGeographics data providers have agreed to make their datasets open. This national data is now being harmonised to standard specifications using EuroGeographics’ unique data integration process.
33 National Mapping, Cadastral and Land Registration Authorities (NMCAs) are contributing to the open data digital elevation model; 31 members are contributing data for the 1:250 000 topographic open dataset; and the Regional Gazetteer is set to include information from 35 organisations.
Open Maps For Europe will also include EuroGeographics’ existing 1:1 million scale open dataset which harmonises geospatial information from 55 countries and territories.
The first open datasets are expected to be available via the Open Maps For Europe gateway at the end of Summer 2021.
