PolKEN Webinar: Briefing on European Strategy for Data

The “European strategy for data”, published by the European Commission on 19th February 2020, is a key proposal which sets out a range of policy measures, digital solutions, and funding programmes to encourage data sharing and re-use of data across Europe by establishing European data spaces.

Eurogeographics provided a briefing on this important paper and encouraged an exchange of views and explained how we might respond.

PolKEN webinar on High Value Datasets

DG CNECT have circulated a message to the members of PSI Group and of the Open Data Committee assigned by Member States asking them to identify, and communicate back by 2 December 2019, those datasets that are already considered (based on the available evidence or experience) as High Value Datasets in the themes indicated in the Annex to the Directive, namely: Geospatial;  Earth Observation and environment and Meteorological.

The webinar held on 30 October 2019 enabled our members to exchange knowledge on their approach to this matter.

PolKEN webinar on INSPIRE

INSPIRE MIG 

Following the meeting of the INSPIRE Committee and the MIG-P group, held by the European Commission, Policy KEN has held a dedicated webinar in order to update the members of EuroGeographics on the latest developments and outcomes of the proceedings.

The webinar took place on the 7th of December and attended by 22 participants.

Ewa Surma – Polish INSPIRE National Contact Point and PolKEN’s rapporteur on Commission activities relating to implementation of INSPIRE legislation, monitoring and reporting on the SDI as well as related issues, presented following topics that were discussed at the meeting, including:

·        Changes and revision of Monitoring and Reporting Decision
·        Possible revision of the Implementing rules on data interoperability
·        Need for spatial data at the Eu level
·        Proposal on core datasets
·        Sharing INSPIRE data and services
·        Data-service linking in INSPIRE

PolKEN Autumn 2015 Meeting

12 participants arriving from different parts of Europe and 10 attending via webinar are the numbers describing a very successful Policy KEN meeting hosted by the National Agency of Public Registry of Georgia on 19-21 October 2015 in Tbilisi. First day of the PolKEN was focused to the introduction of Black sea region members, their national developments and acknowledgment of their common issues and planning of possible future regional activities supported by EuroGeographics. The meeting ended with accustomed Policy issues supported by comprehensive reports from Task Force leaders on actualities of Digital Single Market, Copernicus and Cadastral issues related to policy, all followed by discussion and new ideas from the participants.

PolKEN Autumn 2017 Meeting

Alongside the EFGS 2017 Conference, EuroGeographics held a meeting of the Policy Knowledge Exchange Network attended by representatives of 9 NMCAs. During the meeting the Task leaders delivered reports of developments in key policy areas focused on issues like potential implications of the ongoing review of the PSI Directive, developments related to INSPIRE MIG-P activities and relevance of other activities resulting from the European Commission’s work plan for 2018. An issue of particular importance has been raised concerning the first draft of specification for the future CorineLandCover 2nd generation presented by the EEA.

The KEN discussed the coming events: the webinar on INSPIRE MIG-P on 15th of December and a workshop on Open Data on 22 of March 2018 in Brussels followed by the next PolKEN plenary meeting on 23 March 2018.

Open Data Workshop March 2018

This event is a Eurogeographics activity.

Members are encouraged to participate in the Open European Location Services (ELS) Open Data Policy and Licensing workshop on 22 March 2018.

Meeting will provide an opportunity to learn about the open data policy and licensing framework for the Open ELS Project. These have been drafted using the results of our recent survey on open data already available from official national sources across geographical Europe.
